40 thoughts on “What Are Your Thoughts On Last Nights County Council Meeting?”

    1. I think my Wife did an incredible job in the work session. As for your question, stop hiding behind anonymous. You are always welcome to call me directly, I don’t bite.

      1. Jennifer did a excellent job and was well prepared. She has done a excellent job also with the citizen scrap tire event today and tomorrow. She is a great asset to the county.

  1. By the charter, the council is acting appropriately!

I think they are all dumbasses – they were all elected as part of the same party (the majority).

Dunno what Winn was doing though!

  2. There was no need to remove, temporarily or not, the funds for those positions.
The real problem is JOHN CANNON! John knows it and now the citizens know it.
The CC, led by Cannon, quibbles about not following the charter. The charter requires notice by executives’ office to CC. The executive’s office must have notified the CC, because the CC took both appointments/hires into closed door meeting. When the CC couldn’t reach consensus, the CC SHOULD have moved the vote in open meeting, they didn’t (the executive’s office does not control what gets placed into open or closed meeting, the CC does). The CC dropped the ball. The CC’s disinformation campaign will not standup in court and they know it.

  3. Our Madam Executive is a hormonal and emotional basket case. A pretty Princess for once, isn’t getting her way.

    1. 9:32 Great talking points! Product of the public school system or just a brain dead democrat? Asking for a friend.

  4. It showed the Good Ole boy system is still alive alive on the council. Only 1 person really stood up for their constituents. Thank you James Winn!

John once again showed he isn’t going to listen to the county. He and a few others showed they don’t like the executive form of government we have in this county. Others showed they are just going to go against the executive because of party affiliations. I hope it opens everyone’s eyes this next election and they vote the majority of the council out.

    1. Julie is a psychopath who managed to alienate very conservative county council against her. The only person who supports her is James win and we all know he has a long-standing “relationship” with her anyway. I do have to give Mr. Win credit for managing to consistently find ways to embarrass himself and weaken the executives case. He’s accusing of the county attorney, creating an illegal meeting is actually quite damaging to his own already bad reputation.

  5. The meeting made Julie look really really weak and her shouting and screaming like a spoiled five-year-old at the end of the session didn’t help. She clearly is in over her head and has no business being an elected official… but the irony is no one wants to hire her back at Bennett because she’s also an Awful teacher. Imagine someone with her personality and ignorance in a classroom….

  6. Going back to the Republican primary last year, you clearly picked a bad horse, Joe. She is the Republican version of all the kind of liberal lunatics you criticize in the city. Your wife will tell you, morale has never been lower. The vacancies are worse than last year. The budget is out of control, and the lawsuit that she has now caused world cost of taxpayers, even more money I know you’ll never man up to reflect on your poor decision encourage right wing people to support her but at least we get to watch a fun public collapse now…

    1. 11:26 – Couldn’t be more wrong!
Julies was/is the strongest candidate for the Executives Office, hands down. If Psota got in there, John Cannon would be running the show. Thanks God that didn’t happen.
Morale is low for multiple reasons, least is new Executive.
Vacancies have stayed about the same. People retire, get fired, or otherwise move on for multiple reasons.
The budget ALWAYS goes up and if you believe John Cannon they’ve done a good job keeping it under control (not my words, John’s – at last night’s meeting).
This situation will go to court and a judge will decide.

      1. Cope Harder, Honey. Someone above used the term “basket case” and that is a great way to describe this crazy Karen….she’s flaming out in public before our eyes and she’ll be back to babysitting kids in no time….watching Bunky get emasculated in public though is so sad…he needs the money though so he has to tow the line…NO One…let me repeat…NO one among the rank and file like this dingbat crazy Julie….

        1. NO one? Obviously, the citizens of Wicomico County liked Julie enough to elect her and still like her (considering the backlash against the County Council). So, file your rank *ss in the closest trash receptacle, before it starts to smell… lol

          1. He looks puzzled and way in over his head. They are all following the orders of the finance queen who always gets her way or else.

        2. She is a narcissistic lunatic. Everyone she’s it now. She screams like that on a daily basis according to county employees. She doesn’t know how to do her job . Thank God for 6 sane people on the council!!!

  7. I thought I’d add the work session portion so residents can see and understand the recycling situation/problem.

  8. Interesting attitudes and name calling.

I wonder if it were a man, would the slander, libel and name calling be the same.

Slower lower doesn’t quite fully describe the ignorant low education population of the county.

John Cannon did the same to Culver.

Its not a County Executive problem now is it?

    1. Hey 6:06: quoted from you, “Slower lower doesn’t quite fully describe the ignorant low education population of the county “.
Compared to what I must ask? Baltimore County?, St Mary’s County?, St George’s County? Come on man, we actually are educated down here are are not just county bumpkins. I challenge you to compare SAT and graduation statistics of the counties listed above to Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties of the Lower Slower Eastern Shore. Please respond when you have been educated yourself.

      1. Can’t speak to Worcester or Somerset stats but many kids getting Wicomico diplomas are woefully deficient in basic academic skills that would have been grade school expectations a few years back. Fear not since they can all use their phones for various forms of entertainment 24/7. Many sharp, great kids but social promotion of those who exert zero effort will bite them and greater society sooner rather than later.

        1. 10:57, I’m sure you are correct about current students in Wiconico County, but where is the comparison to counties across the bridge

  9. They put a bunch of dumpsters in an empty parking lot and expected what to happen, in a low wage community of 80% rentals, and neither the city or county providing a way to dispose of household large items?

….. and then nothing to do but whine and blame the community for their failure.

  10. Lots of intelligent comments on here? Most of you can’t have a conversation without some type of name calling. You sound like a bunch of 3 year olds. Sad. Wicomico County and Salisbury are shit holes and it isn’t because of Julie. It’s because of mind sets like John Cannon. 1 year left and I’m out of this shit hole of a county where small minds reign.

  11. Perhaps I’ve already screwed up but here’s the deal. From here on out of you want to personally attack anyone, use your name. I’ve had just about enough of you people attacking others like absolute cowards. Game over!

  12. Re: the recycling portion, and the Civic Center site in particular.

The recycle woman had some facts to share but also a lot of excuse making. She/they appear not to have convinced the Executive and high admins they need more drivers and trucks since they were not added to the budget. If they have unfilled positions the hiring process needs to get focused. They obviously found money for cameras and IT hookups.

We’ve been conditioned for decades that recycling is an unquestioned ‘good thing’ so no surprise many folks have folded that into their lives and habits. The recycle crew screwed up royal by not publicizing their concerns and asking for suggestions; instead without notice they arbitrarily closed two very popular and actively used sites and told folks to drive miles out of the way to find another. Not happening here!

Most don’t know that all of the recycle stuff has to find a buyer and the spot market fluctuates based on factors the Recycle Dept. has no control over; they did seem more up-to-speed discussing that aspect.

Problems are opportunities. The fact some were leaving furniture, etc. means they were looking for a means to dispose; question is how county and city encourage and facilitate in cost-effective, safe fashion. Since city has ‘free’ garbage/trash collection any extra bags come from where? Perhaps schedule an open container left one day per week early and picked later same day could serve to collect the miscellaneous stuff; start with the Civic Center and expand if it works. Personally, live in county, have private hauler and have dump sticker but Civic Center was much more convenient fot cardboard, plastic and glass. All will now go to the curb and into landfill; time and cost to head to remaining sites ain’t happening. Don’t think I’m alone on that easy calculation. Several council members made similar observations.

Related point; reduced hours at main brush pile are very inconvenient; tough to get there after work before they close and Parsonsburg site is always a quagmire for several days after a rain. Main site was 6a to 8p before Covid; now 6a to 6p; shift it to 7a to 7p and more could use it.

  13. Captain John did a great job during public comments about the West side problems and the Parks and Recreation administration. Steve Miller and his band of mongers could CARE LESS about anything but limelight on opening a park or a series of games to make him bloat how much money it infuses into the local economy. The West side Parks are in Shambles and Miller wants West Metro Core and Pirates Wharf developed? Don Coffin is the only one laughing all the way to the bank of the over a decade purchase of the West Metro core property. By the way I went to the Civic Center last week to the veterans memorial and the grounds there are terrible! Clumped rows of grass, edging debris all over the sidewalk and looked a mess and we want to build more parks to maintain?

    1. I have a boat slip at Cedar Hill and the short older man from parks works hard at his job. Before him was some real big guy who sat in the pickup truck and played with his telephone all day and blew out big clouds of cigarette smoke. What a total waste of taxpayers money he was. I hope that guy has moved on from the taxpayer coffers.

  14. i doubt wicomico county has any dept. that you could say has an exceptional work crew. however i do have first hand experience with 1 bunch in particular and that is rec and parks. i have long been affiliated with usssa. the lack of communication, the lack of motivation, the lack of energy, the poor facilities from the fields right down to the bathrooms is deplorable. when worcestor county is done with their new fields im pretty sure it is see you later wicomico. maybe even before then. whoever is in charge of maintaining fields in wicomico should be terminated asap – he/she is obviously is a born to be county worker. if you are a fan of crab grass you would love these fields.
