You are now paying for wind and solar in Maryland and your most recent electric bill is proving such. Mine has almost literally doubled and for what! Oh sure, we can all bitch and complain about it and as usual nothing will be done about it. In todays America we simply get boned, (like a 10 cent tax for paper bags) and are forced to simply deal with it.
Well there’s going to come a day, (soon) when Americans are going to get fed up with the lies, taxes and fees and flat out rebel. To get to the point, it was Martin O’Malley who created the latest legislation with the power companies and Salisbury News was the first and only news source that caught his scam and brought it to the attention of the new Hogan administration, nothing could be done about it and here we sit paying almost double for electricity.
We need a new government starting with local communities all the way up to the White House. Americans have been gouged enough.
My Choptank. bill for July was $98.00. I used to have Delmarva Power and have to admit that my bill now is easily 1/2 to 2/3 of what it was. This is with two teenagers in the house!
My electric bill from Delmarva Power was over $100 more than expected. Guess we won’t be going out to dinner this month.

Choptank last month, $148. That’s with two window AC’s and a couple of 24/7 lights.
10:40 – Choptank is the way to go if you can get it. Problem is that you can’t get Choptank everywhere here on the shore.
If your bills are doubling in price, you’re using more electricity. The delmarva power distribution charge went from 7.5 cents per kWh in March of this year, to 7.75 cents per kWh in the most recent bill (July). Some of the other transmission and distribution costs went up as well, but not by more than a half cent per kWh. Even two years ago it was at 5.9 cents per kWh, certainly less but not half as much.
#truth. I can’t believe some of these bills that people are posting?! My average bill for the last 4 months is less than $65 (DPL). 80* and a ceiling fan in the summer and 60* and a space heater in the winter keep my bill manageable…
4:27 – it depends on if you are single or have a family as that impacts that bill with the clothes washings alone.
There was salesmen at Sam’s club in the fall or last summer getting people to switch PART of their Bill to them
on the Delmarva Power Bill !!! Did this make the BILLs GO UP ???? They said it could be switched Back !!!!

A lot of these comments are DPL hacks. People don’t realize you have the right to switch to another electric provider such as CHOPTANK. We moved where we are now approx 20 years ago and our provider was CHOPTANK. DPL attempted to switch us and we refused since our bill was 1/3 less than what we were paying over on AIRPORT RD. We are now behind FRUITLAND WALMART. We also get better service when electric goes down.
