The Pentagon‘s war with Iran has cost $33.4 billion and counting, while hundreds of destroyed buildings and dozens of aircraft have yet to be accounted for, according to a stunning new internal report warning of ‘strategic inventory shortfalls.’
The Pentagon’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) released an internal Department of War analysis of Operation Epic Fury, the first phase of the Iran war from February 28 through June 29.
It lays bare the true extent of the US munition shortage that has been reported but that both the president and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth have denied.
‘The munitions expenditure on (Operation Epic Fury) has resulted in strategic inventory shortfalls and revealed industrial base bottlenecks for munitions resupply,’ the OIG report states.
Trump even went on to brag about how large the US arsenal is in a Monday social media post:
‘The United States is producing more Exquisite and Elite Weapons than at any time in our History,’ the president said. ‘They are being delivered on a daily basis to our Forces in the Middle East, and beyond.’
Weeks before he posted that the US has ‘unlimited’ supplies of munitions, while Hegseth has repeatedly batted down questions about military stockpiles.
The Pentagon publicly said in July that the war had cost $37.5 billion, but the new report delves into the exact figures.
Well who else would be footing the bill other than tax payers. If it keeps Iran from having a nuclear weapon to destroy us with, it’s totally worth it.
