Please read the HB119 & SB199, and see how state School Superintendent Choudhury is blackmailing all Maryland School Boards into teaching our children about all forms of sex or he will take 20% of state funding away from the school systems that don’t comply with his demands. The state calls it a framework, but so specific that it encroaches on curriculum. The state only has standards. The state has absolutely no say in curriculum, which is entirely up to each local county school board. Because of this, state superintendent Mohammed Choudhury (with the help of liberal legislators) attempted to put the framework into legislation to undermine counties and the authority of the local elected school boards through the use of force.
The legislators received overwhelming statewide opposition on these bills, including from numerous school boards. In this video from a couple of weeks back, you can see Choudhury admitting that he’s overriding curriculum and pitches a fit. He says what he would do if the bills did not pass. In retaliation along with the superintendent, Delegate Vanessa Atterbeary who originally submitted HB119 is enthusiastically giddy to amend the bill to carry out “punishment” to those who oppose the state. Atterbeary scratched the original content of the bill and proposed a defiant amendment that threatens to defund local school systems by up to 20% if they don’t implement the framework. This extreme overreach has never been done before as it relates to curriculum. Watch the video below.
The Maryland State Board of Education who appointed Choudhury should get their act together and fire him. They are ultimately responsible for his deplorable terroristic acts. Along with the legislators that support these bills and amendments, these actions are only found in communist governments.

How did this mohammed cloudhury get appointed to such position? We have plenty of natural born Americans much more qualified to be a school superintendent. He needs to be fired immediately right along with the board that appointed him. This should not be handled with kid gloves.

When this proposed legislation first appeared, nearly every school board had issues with the significant overreach. Worcester County was certainly no exception, and drafted a very strongly worded statement. I would urge constituents who are opposed to this to voice their concerns by drafting a simple letter stating that as a resident of Worcester County, you are opposed to HB 119/SB 199, that both bills are beyond the scope of MSDE’s authority, and cannot be forced upon local boards. Interested parties should Cc State Senator Mary Beth Carozza and Delegate Wayne Hartman. This letter should be sent via registered mail with a signature required to:

This does two things. First, when the constituency disagrees with lawmakers, concrete evidence of disagreement must be easily documented. The second thing this does is placing the State Superintendent and legislators on notice that they are attempting to operate outside the scope of their authority. Both of these open the door for litigation, as the signatures on the above mentioned letters would certainly serve, essentially, as a cease and desist. Now, a cease and desist are pretty much worthless unless you are served with one PRIOR to legal action. Then the received of the C and D cannot indicate in court that they were unaware.
I have spoke with a few folks I know on the local boards, two former school system superintendents, and two school system attorneys and can only say that they have no intention of complying, with one going so far to state that they will direct the state superintendent/MSDE to keep the 20% they are threatening to withhold.

I live in Delmar (DE side) and my kids goes to the elementary school (Wico Co MD side) I am wondering if the same letter could be written for those who attend the Wicomico co schools. I am just not sure if I could also send the letter being a Delaware resident. I certainly want to have a say since I do not want my son learning this crap. I guess I need to reach out to the school board.

Get government out of schools. This is exactly how the federal and state governments control schools. Do what we say or no money. Give us school choice vouchers. We shouldn’t be forced to pay taxes into a system that we don’t use if we chose to send our kids to private school or home school.

EVERYONE who pays taxes has the help of law enforcement when they need it. Not everyone uses the public schools. What “logic” are you trying to apply to two completely different agencies?
Not sure about the comparison, but I do feel the same way about the police…the federal government should have zero input on local jurisdictions. That’s exactly what all this police reform talk is about…the left wants to be able to control police on a local level.
