A local parents’ group that has clashed with Baltimore County Public Schools in recent months made a bold, new move on Sunday.
The Baltimore County Parent and Student Coalition, which has been fighting to be formally recognized by the county Board of Education, flew a banner “all over Baltimore County for 2 1/2 hours” reading “BCPS LEADERS HAVE FAILED OUR CHILDREN-BCPASC.”
The coalition said in a press release that they hired Bi-Plane Aerial Towing to fly the banner in order “to bring awareness to all the taxpayers of Baltimore County and to start or continue the conversation about Baltimore County Public Schools.”
The group says that “BCPS receives over 50% or 2 billion of the yearly County budget with little oversight or requirements for accountability.
BCPS has failed to open for in-person learning, five days a week, for the majority of students this year. Enrollment is down. Attendance is down. Failing grades are up. Parents are upset. Students feel abandoned. Educators are frustrated.”
