Not that long ago young people would be excited about the school year coming to an end and taking off for Ocean City to make great money in the summer. Now we’re bringing in J1 students and the American entitlement, (work ethic) is shot. Americans don’t want to work. They want to live in Mom’s basement and sponge off the system.
I, (like so many others) own a bar that in the summer time absolutely kills it. We are the only public pool bar in West Ocean City. We have live music every weekend and our customers are by far the best kind of people you’ll ever want to meet. Our Bartenders say we’re the best kept secret in OC, hence why we usually have the most professional Bartenders.
Then comes COVID, (BS). Everyone was required to wear the stupid masks that were not HN95 masks so they never protected people. We were shut down for 3 months and then put on major restrictions like closing at 10 PM IN THE WINTER! Then 50% reduction in seating, you remember the drill. Now, (like everyone else) we’re trying to rebuild and guess what, your lazy ass kids don’t want to work! I’ve been running ads for months for cooks and bartenders, (crickets). Oh I’m not the only one and guess what, I’m not going to hire some smart ass kids who feels they should be entitled and pampered. You come to work for me, you’re going to make serious money BUT you’re going to earn your way.
It’s time parents start kicking their kids in the ass because the stimulus money, unemployment is going to end very soon and YOU are going to grow tired of your 35 year old kid turning down the air conditioning to make it colder, eating your favorite treats in the kitchen and not putting up a penny to help with expenses while Mom and Dad go to work all day. “We The People” need to all come together and rethink wat direction this country is heading in. I have two nieces coming to live with me this summer from VA Beach. They were raised right. They’re proud of what they earn and they have no problem showing up for work every single day!
Perhaps you have family members that are willing to do the same, I don’t know. What I do know is that every bar and restaurant needs help and the season is already kicking in. I’m hiring, period. So are hundreds of other places. We all need your help and we don’t want to charge you $20.00 for a hamburger because we have to pay so much for a basic cook. We will train, respect and appreciate good help. You do your part and get those kids out of the basement and back to work. THIS IS AMERICA FOLKS!

The left is getting their $15/hr without having to force it through Congress by continuing the unemployment benefits. Once businesses go up in wages, they can’t go backwards.
The anger on the island was in full swing this past weekend. Our money demographic, released like hounds after a year at home bitched and moaned at the lines and lengthy delays at chow time. This past weekend was still an off weekend with full throttle this weekend with cruisers and memorial day following that. Huge pockets with cruisers of course and a more relaxed mindset.
Come memorial day and after oh boy.
Gonna be a long summer and the govt tit sucking must stop.

Saw a family come into an establishment….and wasnt happy with the…US folks at the bar enjoying ourselves. Sept cant come fast enough.

I used to work in Ocean City Transportation and saw/spoke to a lot of non J1 visa workers. It is a scheme that is rigged. If you employ a J1, you don’t pay any SSA Tax, you don’t pay any Unemployment Tax, and the companies that bring J1 people over here pay several thousand dollars to the employer to to hire J1. It is not that Americans don’t want to work. It’s simply that J1 workers are CHEAPER. Come the end of summer, employers have no choice to pay for Americans.

The government has brain washed the people of this nation , it took a year of the flue to scare the hell out of people . Went to Walmart today without a mask and everyone in the store was still wearing masks. I asked and they told me I didn’t need to wear a mask . I thought to myself , what the hell would these people do in a war zone ? So sad that the socialist have taken over .
These folks wouldnt be in a warzone since that would suggest they are in the military. The military with which they would be appropriately trained for any event that requires protecting our country.

People not wanting to work for you us not “The Liberal Mindset.” They just know they can make way more money working in Ocean City than they can at a tiny bar in West OC.
3:15, it’s not just his bar, it’s everywhere. I was in NYC/Jersey in January, LA in January, Orlando in February, OBX in March and Vegas last week. All were for work except OBX. I saw “Now Hiring” signs EVERYWHERE. If you wanted to go anywhere to eat it was at least an hour wait unless you showed up before 5. The problem wasn’t that the places were packed, it was that the establishments didn’t have the servers. We go to OBX every year in late March because we want to avoid the seasonal rush. I have NEVER had to wait more than 5 minutes previously. When a restaurant owner has seating available for an additional 20 people but has a 45 to 60 minute wait because of lack of servers, is pathetic because they would rather sit at home and draw unemployment!
Going to be a long and angry summer of visitors.
They are paying people NOT to work. Now Biden is giving people with children $300 dollars a month. That is $300 PER child.
