A North Carolina state trooper fatally shot his sheriff captain love rival, investigators claim.
Highway Patrol Sgt Nekime Matu Oxendine, 44, was charged this week over the killing of Cumberland County Sheriff’s Capt Adam Bean, 42, earlier this year.
Bean was killed outside of a Hope Mills home in March, with cops arriving on the scene to find a woman performing CPR on him. He was later pronounced dead.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by Law and Crime, that woman, 43, had been in long-term relationships with the two men.
She is said to have first dated Oxendine before leaving him for Bean, until they broke things off last December and she returned to Oxendine, the statement said.
The outlet reported that the night of the shooting, Bean had texted the woman saying he wished to speak with her but she turned him down.
‘F*** it, I’ll come to you,’ he then texted her to which she responded ‘Please don’t,’ the probable cause statement said.
Bean arrived at the address and ‘appeared irate and questioned why Oxendine’s vehicle was parked outside,’ it added.
