The Town of Ocean City will not move forward with the acquisition of a 193-acre property to the west of Berlin for the development of a future sports complex. A majority of the Ocean City Council on Monday shared their concerns about either the project or location, as well as intense opposition from neighboring property owners. A motion to pass the first reading of an ordinance, authorizing the Mayor and City Council to purchase the property, failed for lack of a second.
An “Ocean City sports complex” should be in “Ocean City”, not Berlin, Bishopville, Whaleyville, Ocean Pines, Snow Hill, etc. Let Ocean City sink itself, they have no business ruining other towns.
It was a council member or a former one, (I believe) who tried to secure a deal by purchasing a parcel of land in Berlin on rt. 50 and the high school. Once that scam fell through another one popped up and obviously fell through. Unless you want taxes to jump through the roof, stay the hell on your island, period,
