Harassment contributed to numerous employees leaving the Roads and Solid Waste departments. Those that were nearing full retirement eligibility -reportedly remained in their positions as long as they could, while seeking medical treatment and prescribed medication to help them cope with the toxic working conditions. Human Resources received formal complaints documenting these conditions. Heather installed additional security cameras at both facilities without approval by the IT department, reportedly for the purpose of monitoring entrances and hallways. However, employees subsequently received calls on their office and cell phones referencing activities that appeared to have been observed moments earlier through the camera system. These observations included work-related conversations taking place among employees. After concerns were brought to the attention of Human Resources, the Information Technology department inspected the camera placements established by the installation company. During this review, it was determined that some cameras were directed toward employees’ desks rather than being limited to entrances and hallways. IT subsequently adjusted the camera angles to change their fields of view.
Publishers Notes: Heather Lankford, under the direction of the county executive spent tens of thousands of dollars of taxpayer money to monitor these cameras and I can confirm what the commenter above is saying.
Heather Lankford would actually monitor county cell phone as well and ask employees what they were discussing, hence why my Wife and many others purchased their own personal cell phones where Heather and the executive couldn’t monitor personal phones.
Folks, this is how paranoid these people are. They have to go.
People love power, it makes them feel big and important.
