The Ocean City Motor Event Task Force will convene next week to review this month’s OC Rock and Ride motorcycle rally, and to discuss the upcoming Endless Summer Cruisin’ event.
On Sept. 28, beginning at 10 a.m., committee members will meet at City Hall to discuss the outcome of this year’s OC Rock and Ride, which returned to the resort Sept. 9-12 for the second annual motorcycle rally. Event organizers also will provide update the committee on their plans.
In 2017, the Town of Ocean City formed the Motor Event Task Force to discuss the challenges associated with both sanctioned and unsanctioned motor events that occur within town limits.
Those events included the annual, sanctioned Cruisin’ events, as well as the unsanctioned pop-up car rallies that plagued the resort for years.
The goal of the committee is not only to identify the challenges those events bring, but to develop strategies and solutions to the problems they might cause. In 2024, for example, following a troublesome OC Bikefest event, the task force agreed to implement a special event zone for the 2025 event, effectively reducing speed limits and enhancing penalties for violators.
