The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) is accepting public comments on Atlantic Menhaden Draft Addendum II. Members of the public can comment by:
- Attending Maryland’s in-person public hearing
- Participating in the general public webinar
- Submitting a comment directly to ASMFC
Atlantic Menhaden Draft Addendum II HearingsThe Atlantic coastal states of Maine through Virginia have scheduled hearings to gather public input on Draft Addendum II to Amendment 3 to the Interstate Fishery Management Plan for Atlantic Menhaden. The Draft Addendum considers options to reduce the Chesapeake Bay Reduction Fishery Cap (Bay Cap) by up to 50% and distribute the cap more evenly throughout the fishing season. The options aim to alleviate a concentration of effort that may be affecting other fisheries within the Bay and other potential ecological impacts. |

a good place to start would be winding down the omega menhaden processing plant in reedville va. wonder why the stripers and crab populations are suffering. well it aint cause daddy caught one. its because corporations like this one are raping the bay. How about addressing all the pollution coming out of dc baltimore harrisburg and washing into the bay. again it aint cause daddy caught a fish. maybe the taxpayer funded $500 million a year nazi organization called maryland department of unnatural resources could look into those issues? nah never happen! much easier to go after mom and pop! f’n worthless government organization with a badge and a gun to rob you again and again and again! your children and grandchildren will never have the opportunity to enjoy what could, should be a national treasure!
