Ninety-five men with no legal right to be in this country were sitting behind the wheels of commercial trucks in Arizona this month. They were not lost. They were licensed. Most of those papers came from the same two states that have spent years treating a commercial driver’s license like a participation trophy.
Fox News Digital reports that a multi-agency operation in Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector, running August 10 through 14, arrested 95 illegal alien truck drivers. Every one of them held a state-issued commercial driver’s license.
Seventy-six of those cards came from California. Six came from New York. The rest were sprinkled across a handful of other states that never should have handed an 80,000-pound rig to a man the federal government does not recognize as lawfully present.
This was not a paperwork sweep. Agents also broke up two human-smuggling events, arrested four smugglers, and pulled 17 smuggled aliens out of the pipeline. They seized 74 pounds of methamphetamine and 169 pounds of marijuana. In all, 143 suspects from 18 countries were taken off the road. The trucks were not just hauling freight. Some of them were hauling people and poison.
“We are committed to protecting our citizens from all international threats, whether that is from unlicensed or untrained drivers, or transnational criminal organizations engaged in human or drug trafficking,” Acting Chief Patrol Agent Dustin Caudle said.
Border crossings have collapsed under President Trump. Encounters fell from more than 144,000 in December 2024 to about 33,000 in July. The cartels noticed. They did not go home. They climbed into the cab.
