New Fishing Regulations Effective

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources announces that, following our scoping and proposal process, the following regulation changes will be effective August 31, 2026:

  • GEAR
    Changes have been made to clarify that an individual may attempt to catch fish only when using legal fishing gear. See the summary for information.
  • SHELLFISH – GENERAL – Seafood Dealer Declaration Requirement
    Harvesters who sell their own catch, who are also licensed by the Maryland Department of Health (MDH), are required to declare their intent to deal in shellfish intended for human consumption.
