Shocking 105 million Americans are not working – more than during COVID or the Great Recession

It’s hot NILF summer for American workers.

The number of adults who are “not in the labor force” (NILF) surged to an all-time high in June to 105.8 million, according to figures from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

The record comes after a massive surge of 832,000 workers dropping out of the labor force in June alone. The overall number of NILFs is higher than at the height of the Great Recession or the COVID pandemic.

The definition is broad — it covers all Americans age 16 and over who aren’t currently working, including retirees and students.

  1. That’s great. I’m working two jobs now and possibly getting a third while all of our tax dollars were thrown away by the Biden admin. I’d sure like to all this money being clawed back come back to all of us that work.

  2. It’s because of so many handouts over the years that the stupid Democrat politicians have allowed to cause work ethics to diminish. Unfortunately there’s not to many people that are taught to work and make money any more they rather be given money. And another issue is people on disability that shouldn’t be on it. Lot’s of them are on disability instead of collecting social security guess why because it pays more. The fraud just keeps pouring in and these doctors and lawyers signing off on it . Investigations need to look into this .
