Jasmine Crockett’s Security Guard Fatally Shot by Dallas SWAT in Standoff – What We Know

A man known publicly as Mike King, who reportedly provided security services for U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), was fatally shot by Dallas Police SWAT officers during an armed standoff Wednesday night.

The incident, as earlier detailed by The Dallas Express, occurred on Wednesday evening, with the suspect not identified at the time. Officers from the police fugitive task force tracked the individual to the 1900 block of Medical District Drive during a surveillance operation, according to Chief Daniel Comeaux. When they tried to approach him, the suspect barricaded himself inside his vehicle.

Dallas police, including their fugitive team, tracked King to the location amid an active warrant for impersonating a law enforcement officer. When King barricaded himself inside his vehicle, SWAT intervened. Officers deployed tear gas to force him out; upon emerging, he allegedly pointed a gun at them, leading to the officer-involved shooting. No officers or bystanders were injured, and the hospital briefly went on lockdown.

King operated Off Duty Police Services, an online platform that connected North Texas officers with off-duty job opportunities. Sources indicate he used aliases and drove a replica undercover police vehicle equipped with stolen license plates—reportedly taken from cars near a military recruiting office—while under investigation for impersonation. His background reportedly includes a criminal history, raising concerns about how he secured roles involving law-enforcement coordination and high-profile protection, per CBS.

King was a visible presence in Crockett’s security detail, with images showing him near her at public events and during her recent U.S. Senate campaign efforts. He also oversaw security teams at downtown Dallas hotels and his church. Documents reviewed by media outlets confirm payments to a person named “Mike King” for “security services” from Crockett’s operations as recently as last year.
