‘Serious deficiencies’: Maryland issues emergency suspension after Spotlight report

Maryland health officials have taken emergency action against a Baltimore nonprofit accused of operating an unlicensed assisted living facility, following a Spotlight on Maryland investigation that documented allegations of neglect, intimidation, and unsafe conditions affecting vulnerable adults.

The Maryland Department of Health issued a 10-page Order of Emergency Suspension at the end of January against Aim to Inspire Care Forever Limited, a nonprofit operating along Garrison Boulevard. The emergency order instructs Aim to Inspire to immediately halt operations and relocate its residents. The nonprofit can appeal the order.

The emergency suspension order cited “serious deficiencies,” finding the nonprofit failed to provide required nursing supervision, accepted residents whose care needs exceeded its legal authority, and left at least one resident without prescribed medication for 30 days.
