OPERATIONAL PLANS FOR PENDING WINTER STORM

The Wicomico County Department of Public Works is prepared and standing ready for the impending weather event that could impact our jurisdiction between January 24th and 27th, 2026.

To ensure the highest level of operational effectiveness during this event and in an abundance of caution for public safety, the Department of Public Works provides the following notification to our County as we continue to watch the forecasts and prepare.

At this time all Roads Division staff, equipment, and snow removal/roadway treatment units and materials are prepared to begin operations as the final timing and condition of the event unfolds. All routes are assigned, and supplemental machinery will be strategically staged along with removal crews across our County before the first flake falls. Additionally, supplemental staff, snow removal units, and machinery from the Solid Waste Division are prepared to support Roads Division efforts, and to maintain/re-open all Solid Waste facilities safely.

If the forecast holds and road conditions deteriorate, the Department of Public Works asks all residents to please consider limiting roadway use unless necessary, and to adhere to any declarations in the event of a state of emergency to prevent undue risk on the roadways. If possible, please relocate vehicles, trailers, boats or other obstructions in the roadways to allow for full and safe plowing operations to proceed and keep an eye out for our crew members.

In order to provide a safe and passable facility for our customers, and support to the Roads Division during the event, the Solid Waste Division will operate under the following modification.
