The announcement comes as technology companies accelerate their artificial intelligence initiatives, which require massive amounts of electrical power.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized his administration’s dedication to protecting consumers from bearing the financial burden of corporate technology expansion. The president stated that his administration is actively collaborating with major American technology companies to secure commitments that safeguard the interests of American citizens, with additional announcements expected in the coming weeks. According to Trump, the companies sucking every drop of electricity possible from America’s grid must “pay their own way.

Our electrical power infrastructure is already inadequate since the shuttering of many, many base load power plants fueled by fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, oil, as well as nuclear power. Wind and solar are not reliable 24/7. If something isn’t done these data centers will consume power that was slated for existing consumers and factories. The new massive power consuming data centers will come on line creating blackouts or brownouts. Data centers must be required to produce their own power and not be allowed to tap into our already weak grid. This problem must not be overlooked and pretend it doesn’t exist.
Yup, They closed the Brandon Shores facility over the bridge in MD and they shut down the power plant at Indian River. Delmarva Power is asking for more money to supply energy to us and they will hike our rates up. Exactly how the hell are they going to have enough for Data Centers? How much do you want to bet that the increased amount Delmarva Power is asking for is to make the infrastructure stable for the Data Center windfall they are wanting to get? If solar power is so great then let them use it for their “Data Centers” and see how far that goes. It would be a great “green energy” experiment.
