Delaware State Police Arrest Wilmington Woman in 2023 Dover Homicide

The Delaware State Police have arrested Krista Rule, 46, of Wilmington, Delaware, in connection with a homicide that occurred in Dover in 2023.
On June 25, 2023, troopers responded to a residence on Case Ridge Road in the Wolf Creek area of Dover for a report of a deceased woman found inside a bedroom. The victim was identified as Denise Wood, 72. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit assumed the investigation and determined that Wood had died as a result of stab wounds.
Through an extensive and ongoing investigation, detectives ultimately identified the victim’s daughter, Krista Rule, as the suspect in the homicide.
On January 6, 2026, Rule was indicted by a Kent County Grand Jury. The following day, January 7, 2026, she was taken into custody and transported to Troop 2, where she was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2.
Rule was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $2,100,000 cash-only bond.

The investigation was conducted by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.
