Americans are facing the snowiest winter in five years as experts say a frigid December will lay the foundation for a cold couple of months.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) meteorologist and climate scientist Judah Cohen spoke to the Daily Mail about his predictions for the 2025-2026 winter season based on his comprehensive AI weather models.
And it looks like December will give Americans a brutal introduction into the winter ahead.
A polar vortex has already taken the country by storm bringing on freezing temperatures and wintery conditions.
But unlike other or large, low-pressure cold air systems that come down all at once, this Christmas-time special will come down in three stages.
He told the Daily Mail that Americans are in for a severe case of ‘rinse, lather, repeat,’ with each ‘repeat’ more chilling than the next.
And Accuweather’s Paul Pastelok echoed his warning agreeing that there would be an ‘appetizer, entree, and dessert’ in terms of weather.
‘We do feel that there’s going to be three surges of cold weather,’ he said. The first big surge hit this week, the second will go into affect the week of the 15th, and finally (the dessert) right before Christmas.
