A teenager was placed in handcuffs and tackled to the ground for allegedly stealing from his family’s local Walmart.
The Wortuba family was shopping at the store in Liberty, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City, on November 30 when 16-year-old Jeremiah was accused of theft after allegedly going through the self checkout without paying for tea and an item of candy.
Footage shared on TikTok shows Vaquandra Wortuba pleading with a police officer to ‘calm down’ and explain what is happening as he escorts her son through the cart store near the entrance of the building.
Other family members are heard screaming at the officer as Jeremiah tried to resist his grip. The officer then dragged the teen to the ground and placed him in handcuffs.
‘Oh my God,’ Vaquandra repeated over and over again, before pleading with the officer: ‘I have a receipt. The lady helped him scan. We put stuff back.’
Vaquandra, her voice shaking, begged her husband Patrick to come to the front of the store, telling him: ‘They just slammed Jeremiah down to the floor. The police … they tried to say that they stole something.’
The family pushed Walmart staff for answers about the alleged theft, but the officer continued to escort the teen away.
‘I scanned everything in my f***ing basket. I got the receipt on my f***ing phone,’ one relative yelled. Another added: ‘You’re arresting the wrong person!’
of course it’s those racit police officers! never any accountability. I’m sure the liberal judge will re enforce this line of reasoning! dirty ol walmart keepin the man down!
