The Justice Department under former President Joe Biden subpoenaed Verizon for the personal phone records of Republican Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4) over a more than two-year period as part of the “Arctic Frost” probe.
The subpoena, obtained by Fox News Digital, was issued by a prosecutor who later joined special counsel Jack Smith’s January 6 investigation.
It demands the wireless company hand over toll records (call and message metadata, such as who he was communicating with and when, but not the actual contents) from over a year before the mostly peaceful protest at the Capitol in 2021, right up until the subpoena was issued, in late April of 2022.
Operation Arctic Frost eventually led to election-related charges against President Trump.
The subpoena advises Verizon that they are “commanded” to appear in court weeks later to produce the materials outlined in the attached documents, including text and image data, as well as “encryption/authentication” data.
It also seeks records for three other phone numbers, which were redacted, along with a one-year gag order, according to Fox.
