Piedmont Airlines will officially donate a retired Embraer 145 aircraft and two static Rolls-Royce turbofan jet engines to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in support of its new FAA Part 147 Certified Aviation Maintenance Technician School. The donation will provide students with hands-on training opportunities and marks a significant investment in workforce development on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
This event highlights a strategic partnership between Piedmont Airlines, UMES, and local economic development leaders to address the growing demand for skilled aviation maintenance technicians. The donation supports hands-on learning and career readiness for students in one of the few Historically Black College Universities (HBCU) based FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant programs in the country.
