Dear Members of the Board of Education and Superintendent Stauffer,
As County Executive, I am writing to you with the utmost seriousness and concern regarding Wicomico County teacher Jay Waggoner. It has come to my attention that Mr. Waggoner has expressed support for political violence, including support for the murder of a conservative public figure. Such views are abhorrent, dangerous, and wholly incompatible with the standards of conduct expected of any educator entrusted with teaching and guiding the students of Wicomico County. Please see attached photo.
Teachers hold a position of trust and responsibility in our community. Their role is not only to educate, but also to model the values of respect, civility, and safety. When an individual instead promotes or condones violence, they violate that trust and forfeit their moral and professional standing to continue serving in the classroom.
The people of Wicomico County must be assured that our classrooms are safe spaces where students are free from exposure to extremist rhetoric or advocacy of violence. Allowing Mr. Waggoner to continue in his position erodes public trust in our education system and undermines the integrity of our schools.
For these reasons, I am respectfully but firmly requesting the immediate resignation of Mr. Jay Waggoner. Should he refuse, I strongly urge the Board of Education and the Superintendent to take the necessary steps to remove him from his role without delay.
Wicomico County stands united against political violence, and it is imperative that our schools reflect those values. I trust you will act swiftly and decisively to protect the students, families, and reputation of our school system.
Sincerely,
Julie Giordano
County Executive
Wicomico County, Maryland
What school employs this terrorist?
Salisbury Middle School.
just another evil teacher of which there are to many! sack him!
And Julie is a former school teacher and we need to send her back! She is not the “Conservative” that she pretends to be! She is a member of Salisbury PFLAG and she was with them when they first painted the gay Pride flag next to the Library!
Hey, a vote’s a vote, right?
