Letter To The Editor

This is the real crisis!!

And again our Queen Julie may have been responsible for the loss of another child in a house fire in Wicomico County! Her incompetence and her failure to act has harmed our county! The act of doing absolutely nothing to create a Wicomico County Fire Department when our volunteer fire departments are struggling! What does she do? She goes to their meetings and flirts with them and giggles, tee hee, while in campaign mode and throws more money at them instead of doing the right thing and creating and staffing a countywide fire department like every single County Executive form of Government in Maryland. Those brand new toys the volunteers buy with our tax dollars does not save a trapped child nor does it put out the fire without manpower. Every single department alerted for this fire with a child trapped had to be re-alerted multiple times including the First Due department! The only department that didn’t scratch was Salisbury because they have paid firemen sleeping in house. When Salisbury requested Central to alert for stand-by crews to stand-by at Station 16 Central alerted and re-alerted over 10 volunteer fire companies from 5 different counties for an hour and a a half! Each fire company from Wicomico, Worcester, Sussex, Dorchester and Somerset Counties had to be alerted multiple times and scratched each time. No one wanted to get out of their beds to help the citizens of Salisbury and Wicomico County! Something has to be done before more of our children die! Julie pretends to be a big time County Executive County but she does absolutely nothing to help the quality of lives for the citizens of Wicomico County! She failed that child and that family as well as all the citizens in our great county! We need to do better!

  1. wow you either are a volunteer firefighter looking for a pay and retirement package or a complete nut job! sh@t happens, three adults in the home but they couldn’t get the child out. and because the volunteers were late it’s the county exec who’s to blame? that’s one hell of a line of reasoning! not a fan of her. but by your logic Maybe the family pet is at fault too for not alerting the family sooner!
Stop using the death of a little boy to further you own personal desires or wants!
    Pathetic!

  2. While the poster sounds like a career, union paying, volunteer hater some points are true. I would like to see/hear the 911 tapes/ reports and see how accurate his post is. It is true in this day it is hard to find people to volunteer. It is also hard to justify funding a career department to fill stations that might only run one fire call a week.

  3. Wicomico Couty created and is staffing, with county paid firefighters, a County fire department at the airport. Why can’t the Ciunty create and staff similar county paid firefighters throughout all Wicomico?
