Wicomico County Announces Appointments to Newly Established Planning and Zoning Commission

Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano is proud to announce the confirmation of appointments to the newly established Wicomico County Planning and Zoning Commission, a body created to strengthen community development, land use planning, and long-term growth management in the county.

The Wicomico County Council confirmed the following appointments:
Charles R. Dashiell, Jr.
Daniel Morena-Holt
Minister George Mandel Copeland
Tanesha Siggers
Mary T. Denton
James R. Thomas, Jr., P.E., F.A.C.E.C.
Sara Bynum-King


These appointees bring with them an overwhelming breadth of knowledge, diversity of perspective, and professional expertise. Collectively, their backgrounds span engineering, public service, community development, faith leadership, and economic advancement. This broad range of experience ensures that the Commission represents not only the technical needs of planning and zoning, but also the values, voices, and unique character of Wicomico County’s communities.

In addition, Charles R. Dashiell, Jr. has been appointed to serve as Chair of the Commission. Mr. Dashiell’s extensive background in law and public service will provide steady leadership as the Commission undertakes its vital role in shaping Wicomico County’s future.

County Executive Giordano emphasized the importance of these appointments, stating:

“This Planning and Zoning Commission will play a critical role in balancing responsible growth with the preservation of our community character and quality of life. The members confirmed to serve on this Commission represent an impressive depth of knowledge and diversity of experience. I am confident that under the leadership of Mr. Dashiell and the dedication of these members, Wicomico County will be well-positioned for smart, sustainable development in the years ahead.”

The Commission will work closely with the Wicomico County Department of Planning, Zoning, and Community Development, led by Director Tracey Taylor, to review planning policies, zoning regulations, and development projects that impact the county’s future.
