Areas of shade and refuge attract Chesapeake Channa, aka northern snakeheads, in the tidal rivers throughout the Chesapeake Bay system. Casting soft frogs, chatterbaits, and paddletails are excellent ways to lure them into striking a bait.

There is good fishing in the catch-and-release trout management waters and fly anglers get to enjoy enticing trout with a variety of terrestrials, dry flies, and streamers.

Surf anglers at Assateague are catching kingfish, spot, croakers, blowfish, flounder, and a few pompano. Fishing larger cut bait will attract bluefish, large red drum, inshore sharks, and stingrays.
