NJ bakery owners stabbed after fight with customer over eggplant sandwich he bought four years ago

Two New Jersey bakery owners are lucky to be alive after an irate customer allegedly attacked them with a knife, claiming they served him the wrong sandwich four years ago.

Abed Assad and his brother Mohammad, owners of Baladna Bakery in Paterson, said the unhinged knife-wielding man confronted them at the shop Thursday morning about the years-old sandwich order, claiming he was served an eggplant sandwich despite asking for an egg sandwich.

The argument escalated and eventually turned violent when the suspect allegedly stabbed Mohammad in the chest and slashed Abed in the arm when he tried to intervene.

The suspect, whose identity is not yet known, fled the store after the attack around 8 a.m. Thursday, the business owners said.
