NPR, PBS Funder to Shut Down Following Trump Cuts

Public broadcasting may fade away in January after federal budget cuts snapped its government handout.

Last month, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting saw its $500 million federal subsidy end as Congress approved a recissions package that originated with President Donald Trump.

As a result, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting said that in January, NPR, PBS, and local public radio and TV stations are at risk of going dark.

“Public media has been one of the most trusted institutions in American life, providing educational opportunity, emergency alerts, civil discourse, and cultural connection to every corner of the country,” Patricia Harrison, CPB’s president and chief executive, said, according to The New York Times.

“We are deeply grateful to our partners across the system for their resilience, leadership, and unwavering dedication to serving the American people,” she said.

  1. Delmarva Public Media (WSCL, WSDL and WESM) is doomed. I listen to their sad-sack fund drives, and they can barely make enough to cover the operation. Basically, they are funded by Salisbury University at this point.

Remember, though, that most of the mess of the last ten years with Jake Day has been because he was buddy-buddy with the liberal “elites” of Salisbury University- all of whom listened to NPR’s liberal bias. Jake was a frequent guest of Don Rush, and many of his stupid hair-brained schemes were “partnerships with SU and WSCL. Headquarters Live? The Folk Festival? All hatched by the Day/SU/NPR triumverate that led this city for years.

If Delmarva Public Raido falls (and it will) it means that that we will finally have proof that the tiny minority of left wing Salisbury do-gooders has no base and no support.

  2. Had they separated their bias/woke/news programming from their truly educational content, there may have been a chance to keep some of their funding.
