There’s all this talk about the Wicomico County Landfill and the fact that it is filling up incredibly faster then ever expected. The image above is just one more reason something must be done. The van, (above) is not only packed to the gills, it has Delaware tags.
Trash Truck companies are doing the same, collecting from out of our county areas, including other states. While the county enjoys incredible financial income from all this dumping, someone dropped the ball when it comes to filling the cells entirely too fast.
There could be lots of finger pointing but the reality is, the county must discourage out of county dumping. Get this, the landfill even gets trash from Kent Island because our dumping fees are so much less then outlying counties. Common business sense, RAISE THE DAMN RATES.
Raising the rates will punish Wicomico county residents for something out of control. The answer is to let only wicomico county residents and businesses contribute to the land fill, the way it should have been all along.
You could just raise the rates significantly on out of county dumping to discourage most of that dumping, but at minimum make a ton of money off of them. Wouldn’t be that difficult to distribute county only passes…I mean our personal ones require a verification of address. Why not the same for commercial vehicles going across the scales?
Strange, I thought Queen Julie, King Blockhead and Jabba Steve had this all under control.
