Campaign Donation Made to An Elected official In their Office During the Workday Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano

Hello I saw something very concerning, this week:

The Owner of Eastern Shore Undercover an Internet blog, down here on the shore Earl Campbell gave a donation this week to Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano.

Now that’s not abnormal, however I have worked in politics for over 10 years 3 different States Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania for 5 Elected officials now.

I have been involved with fundraising efforts as well.

I have never seen an elected official actually receive a campaign check from a donor in their office during the workday and post about it on social media inside a government office.

Until yesterday.

I know during the 5 years I worked in Annapolis if you needed to do something involving campaign issues you did that “off campus” was made very clear you could be brought up on a ethics charge of you were caught doing something like that.

I am enclosing the rules about elected official in Annapolis on campaign activities like receiving money in a State Government office, and it appears to be prohibited by State law.

Wouldn’t that apply as well to local Government officials as well?

I hope this matter is looked into the optics and the ethics on this look very questionable IMO.

Thank You and Respectfully,

Dan McHugh

  1. oh please. where you been for the last forever years as the legislators in annapolis been raping us blind while getting their grift on? dont matter where or when you receive the so called donation, only that you took it!
politicians are nothing but whores! what do they produce other then BS?

    1. True.

Point being made, rules are rules.

Need to adhere or there could be confusion OR should be consequences. During work hours, politics are to be left at the front door. The job at hand is what matters (not being left or right). Outside of the workplace – “public politickin” takes place. Just the picture of a citizen providing a gov’t worker a political donation check could look like as if the citizen just bought a favor. Ethic rules are suppose to ELIMINATE what coulda shoulda look like. Should have done it at private location or do what others have done. MAIL IT IN.

Rules are Rules just like ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL.

Definitely agree the Annapolis whores are giant ugly pigs and need to be voted OUT

      1. I just noticed they are advertising an opening in their “Ethics Department”. Isn’t Earl looking for a job?

  2. Oh look, Dan has crawled out from under his rock! 10 years, 3 states, 5 elections and yet not one of them would hire him. On the other side, ethics in Wicomico is questionable. It seems the circuit court just fired the admin over ethical usage of Uline purchases and free gifts.

  3. All-

Of significance in all the AI copy and pasted information, there are two words I would point out. 1) Generally- “In most cases; usually. {Note: this is not definitive}. 2) Solicit- to ask for, or to try and obtain. {Note: if something is freely given, it cannot be solicited}.

    Thank you.
