Maryland Governor Wes Moore:
GOVERNOR MOORE: Your leadership mattered in this.
Maryland Secretary of Department Of Natural Resources Josh Kurtz:
Secretary. County Executive, thank you so much. Stay warm and thank you and congratulations again. Your leadership —
The Greater Salisbury Committee / Mike Dunn 02/12/2025 to the Salisbury Independent:
News of the state park comes after the Greater Salisbury Committee sent out a report last year outlining challenges in Wicomico County and offering solutions. The committee suggested a concerted effort involving many stakeholders was needed to start an initiative to get the ball rolling but noted that Giordano did a good job raising awareness with state officials.
“Wicomico is the only county in the State of Maryland that does not have a State Park,” the report said. “That should be addressed. Maintaining, promoting and taking full advantage of the excellent quality of life opportunities that Salisbury/Wicomico provides – from biking and hiking to access to our rivers and waterways, from golfing to our parks and recreation offerings – is key.”
The Executive was praised for her efforts and leadership in making this happen, by the Governor, Secretary of Department of Natural Resources, and the Greater Salisbury Committee… How can she now say she has nothing to do with this?….
You all better hope that HB0487 “Unhoused Individuals – Rights, Civil Action, and Affirmative Defense” doesn’t get passed next year!
Off topic.
Everyone has a right to shelter.
And I think it needs to be addressed.
There are certain levels to vagrancy, and that needs to be addressed with remedies, not just turning a blind eye.
Much like the rule that they can’t stop people from begging on the street corner.
With a 25% hidden poverty, this place will be wholly un-inviting and turn into a San Francisco tent city community.
Another boondoggle of unintended consequences in the works brought to you by the eminently successful Jake Day.
It really doesn’t bother me that we Wicomico County residents don’t have a state park
Looks like this County executive is in constant damage control! Who really gives a shit if this county has another park. How bout repairing the roads and getting that stinking landfill back in order.
we are taxed and fee’d into oblivion and these f’n clueless jokers are celebrating orange crushes and free spaces while we law abiding tax paying citizens suffer! a pox on all of them! worthless pos’s!
