Salisbury University Administrative Salaries and Budget Priorities

Dear Concerned Citizen and Taxpayer,

As you look over these two documents regarding the ever expanding of administrative pay and costs (which are far above what other, lower paid State employees have received in terms of previous cost of living adjustments, etc.) please be aware that this same SU administration is currently planning to impose a radical version of “austerity” that will result in a 6 million dollar cut from its essential Academic services.

This will result in

1)   Larger class sizes for students

2) Higher tuition for students and their families

3) fewer class offerings and opportunities for current future students

4) lowering SU’s overall program and academic quality

5) The elimination of several student academic programs and the teachers/staff who maintain them.

6) The cutting of internships and educational training programs for many of the professional programs

Given our ever-increasing state budget crisis, why aren’t we looking at ways to actually “trim the fat” from these bloated and increasingly excessive administrative costs? Please feel free to send this along to all students, parents and interested parties that these cuts may impact, including media outlets. And please direct any specific concerns and criticisms of this proposal to directly SU’s provost Laurie Couch at provost@salisbury.edu and SU’s President Carolyn Ringer Lepre at president@salisbury.edu

  1. ALL Colleges should no longer be Tax Exempt – they are just a money making machine that pay the people running it a stupid amount of money – GREED – is all colleges are about and CONTROL.

  2. Another reason to fully defund education, boe, bloated admins and unions…
No more taxes fees or BS.
what are you doing with gambling, lottery and pot taxes. And regular taxes for education

  3. Both of my kids skipped the diploma mill that is SU and both went to WorWic and now work in the trades. Both started just above 30/hr. Won’t be long until they surpass both the wife and my salaries (wife has 4 year degree/ I have associates and journeyman certificate) – my point is that they went right from their training to good paying jobs and will be well ahead of their peers without the ridiculous debt college has turned into. SU = not financially worth it.
