Two police officers were shot dead Friday night during a traffic stop in Virginia — including one who was about to become a father — marking the first shooting death of a Virginia Beach cop in 16 years.
Officers Cameron Girvin, 25, and Christopher Reese, 30, stopped a car with an expired license plate in the Virginia Beach neighborhood of Green Run around 11:30 p.m., authorities said Saturday afternoon.
The suspect, identified as John McCoy III, 42, was argumentative and uncooperative, according to body-worn camera footage, eventually stepped out of the car at the officer’s request.
“Almost immediately, there was a tussle between the officers and this individual,” whom Police Chief Paul Neudigate vowed to name just once, according to WTVR.
It truly is a shame, I hate reading this kind of stuff. Before anyone starts proposing more gun laws, it was not the guns that did the shooting. There are no bad guns, only bad handlers. Guns don’t shoot people, people do.
They also worked in OC years ago. Sad.
