Maryland leader says recent high energy bills linked to several factors, including weather

Patricia Monroe and her friend Sharon Lawrence say people in their Oxon Hill neighborhood started complaining on their community message board earlier this week.

“At first I couldn’t believe it, ” Lawrence said of the posts. “I thought it was a joke but as I started reading through, I realized these people are serious.”

They were getting huge electric bills, and Monroe said one retiree was in a panic thinking she’d need to go back to work.“She says my bill in November was $348.81,” said Monroe, “December it was $698.22. January’s bill is $1075.33.”

  1. She’s lying. My neighbor was GONE in November, December and half of January in Texas for a family emergency. When she came back her electric bill was well over $600 for each of those months when she had left the heat on low so the pipes wouldn’t freeze. She was shocked and when Joe posted Andy Harris letter with links to the bill the democrats in maryland passed it all made sense.
Folks, this is a one party state and many of us don’t like this kind of rip off. My suggestion would be to vote republican.
As for President Trump – remember there is only so much control over the States that the Federal government has. He is working hard with his Energy Emergency. Is Maryland going to comply? If they do our rates will go down.

    1. Sorry, PG Montgomery, baltimore counties and city are blue. Regardless when they are bent over by their own party, they always vote blue. They complain, scream and yell yet vote blue. Stupidity cannot be fixed. Lead stupidity to walked and they still vote blue. Rest of MD is red but lack the population. Hence the corruption in PG, montgomery and baltimore counties and city. Hence the corruption from the Mayor of Baltimore and flu kids as well as the blue Governor.

Rest of us hurt because of 3 counties and 1 shitty city

  2. Recent policy changes and the greedy electric company(s) have led to this….

Voting for demoncrats leads to higher prices and taxes…
The ones on food stamps and provided housing won’t see these impacts and continue to vote for free stuff!

Dunno, but I’m glad I’m with them. Not one bill in 10 years over $160 and that with two teens, two dogs, a dishwasher and washing machine that never stop and every electronic gizmo going (two tvs; wife’s IPad, cell phones, etc) – I’m just hoping it stays that way.

  3. exelon is a monopoly! enough said! the democrats in annoplis are all on the take getting rich while we the public suffer!

    1. Tidal health is a monopoly also. They are trying to buy up all the health facilities in the lower eastern shore counties.

      1. Tidal health has a monopoly on health facilities on the entire eastern shore. This way, they can eliminate all their competition and charge anything they want and you won’t be able to go somewhere else.

        1. No issue before and current. Actually more availability east of Salisbury means no more trips to that sbitty area. Win win for me at least. Hope others get the opportunity too.

        2. Bill in Jan was over 500…bill that just came in for Feb (1 degree lower on the therm) over 400. 1 single degree. It’s the usage charge that’s been the killer. There like 3 different times a day where the price is more. Just means less money going to the economy cuz of a monopoly. Doesn’t help the country if no one has money to spend if all of it goes to BILLS.

  4. No issue before and current. Actually more availability east of Salisbury means no more trips to that sbitty area. Win win for me at least. Hope others get the opportunity too.
