Is It Still There? Rand Paul Wants Elon and DOGE to Audit Fort Knox and Its $425B Gold Reserve

Like father, like son. Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) has been interested in auditing Fort Knox since the early 1980s to see if the hundreds of billions of dollars of gold are actually there as the government claims. Rumors have abounded for years that the gold bars have long since been spirited away from one of the most secure facilities in the world.

Spirited away to where? Who knows.

Now his son, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), is also pressing for answers, and he wants Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to help him find out:

The world’s richest man got encouragement Sunday to bring his cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) into one of the most secure places in the world: Fort Knox.

Sen. Rand Paul called for a review of the massive gold reserves — worth an estimated $425 billion based on market rates — in response to the tech mogul’s musings about the stash.

Musk, 53, drew attention to a user who asked him to “take a look inside Fort Knox just to make sure the 4,580 tons of US gold is there.”

“Surely it’s reviewed at least every year,” Musk replied to X user Zerohedge.

“Nope. Let’s do it,” Paul (R-Ky.), 62, chimed in, referring to the Army installation south of Louisville.

  1. It’s all gone. Bob Menedez got some of it. Eleven years is a long time. Hopefully it is a life sentence for ole Bob.
