The Maryland Department of Environment released climate plans from 25 agencies outlining over 100 actions to reduce emissions and build a green economy, with implementation beginning in 2025 as part of Governor Moore’s “whole of government” strategy to meet the state’s ambitious climate goals.
Per the news release (12.20.24): “The Maryland Department of Environment today released climate plans submitted by 25 agencies to activate a “whole of government” strategy focused on cutting harmful emissions and building the green economy in line with the state’s Climate Pollution Reduction Plan.
The agency plans include over 100 priority actions to meet the state’s climate goals, including workforce development for installing clean appliances like heat pumps, electrifying vehicle fleets, making state buildings more energy efficient and diversifying the state’s energy portfolio. In June, Governor Moore issued an executive order creating the Climate Subcabinet and directing all agencies to complete Climate Implementation Plans by the end of 2024. State agencies will begin implementing the plans in 2025.
“We don’t have to choose between a green economy and a growing economy — we can, and we must, build both at the same time,” said Governor Moore. “By mounting an all-of-government approach to climate action, we will cut emissions, lower costs, and create more than 27,000 Maryland jobs. I thank my colleagues for their detailed proposals.”
Stupid waste of time and money. Not going to work
I want to know if these environmentalists are aware of the amount of pollution that is spilled into the air we breathe from airplanes flying over our heads? Little propeller airplanes to this day and into the foreseeable future continue to burn leaded avgas. Many states like California and Colorado are banning the sale of avgas and are encouraging the use of non-leaded fuel. And what about all those jets that spew kerosene exhaust into our skies?
If just one of thee bills is passed then the Federal government should stop all Federal funds to Maryland.
how stupid are these demon crats? electrified vehicle fleets – please…. read up on and get the facts – this has been tried and failed in other states. costs too must money, not effective, not wanted by citizens of MD. I don’t want a heat pump. I want my oil furnace and gas stove.
