ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Property taxes are expected to rise for Maryland businesses and homeowners in the new year.
In 2025 thousands of Marylanders saw their property values rise 20 percent, likely leading to higher taxes.
State property values are reassessed every three years, according to a schedule that divides commercial and residential properties into three groups.
This upcoming year, it’s group one’s turn. They were last assessed in 2022; and saw their property value go up by 12 percent.
Broken down, Somerset County home and business owners saw the highest value increase at 32 percent, followed by Allegany County at 31 percent.
The last time group one’s property values decreased was 2013.
Thanks to Governor Hogan for endorsing Spend Moore!
When in the hell will it stop. The government is taxing us to death while billions and billions are sent to other countries who don’t give a damn about us.
Moore was given a give of 5 BILLION Silas in surplus from Hogan. In true tax and spend fashion, he blew it all and we are now in a deficit.
Good luck fixing that – Marylanders are already taxed on just about everything, and nobody wants to be taxed because Moore messed this all up.
Just another reason to LEAVE. I will not be spending my retirement in MD.
GOOD LUCK
If your home is destroyed…you don’t get your assessed value from the insurance company. So why in the hell are we paying taxes on a completely made up $$? So they can increase their revenues. It’s a fucking scam is what it is.
#taxationwithoutrepresentation
Our assessment went up $130,000…how nice they will “phase in” our what is going to be massive tax increase over the next few years. As a retiree, Maryland is the WORST place to stay…if we did not love our house so much, and the grown kids were not within just a few hours, the Carolinas and Florida look awfully good
Russia or Cuba is starting to look good after getting Tax Moore for our lousy governor.
