This Is Exactly Why They Are Called A Blog

Eastern Shore Undercover

Good Morning Everyone! How is everyone doing today? I am up and ready to get this day started, and I am really hoping that today is better than that past few days. It has been a crazy few days around here for me and the misses.
I hear some chatter on the radios so going to cut this short and get to these messages, before starting our daily posts! Have a wonderful Friday folks!
I was with some friends last night and out of nowhere one of them said, what do you guys think about this Eastern Shore Undercover clown. So I sat back and simply listened. The long and short of their bashing Earl Campbell was his “crybaby” demeanor. They really got heated when they talked about his personal messages like the one above. So I said, look, I know Earl gets very upset when he is called a blog but he needs to face the fact that he is not a legitimate news source and the fact remains they have become a soap opera as well as a political sounding board for the County Executive. A legitimate “news source” tells both sides, unless you are in fact a BLOG like I am and openly admit I am one sided politically.

  1. I am glad you *are* one sided politically because we have way too many of the blooding heart crybabies on the other side. Thank you for telling it like it is.

  2. You have been too kind to Mr. Campbell by simply calling him a biased blogger. He is, in fact, a bald-faced liar—including both his lies of omission and provable lies of commission. Among his many lies, he continues to claim that his $3500 donation to the county executive’s campaign was not a campaign contribution. The campaign finance disclosure as filed with the State Board of Elections indisputably reflects that he made this campaign donation. Such lies are repeatedly reaffirmed by ESU and the County Executive herself. It is also notable that the contract (MOU) with the county executive to disseminate county information through Uncle Fester remains in full force and effect. No evidence has been produced showing that the MOU has been “paused” by mutually agreed on, written modification or addendum as required. The only thing that has changed is that his ability to report on police communications has been neutralized because the sheriff seized the encrypted radios! Thus, The county executive is complicit in the dissemination of misinformation to the public. It is time to bring this era of executive misinformation, misfeasance and intimidation to a close. Vote FOR “Question A!”

  3. Call to end county executive form of government

I once voted for the County Executive form of government, I made a mistake.

Initially, the County Executive position was to run day-to-day business, collaborate with the Council to improve the flow of government and be transparent to the citizens. Governed by our Charter, Executives were to make the flow of government more efficient, not run roughshod over the Council, employees and ignore citizen concerns. Few restrictions on abuses of power or repercussions for unethical actions were put in place allowing “kingdom building” and self-promotion, instead of cooperation, which prevents the smooth running of our county.

Council members are restricted from interacting with employees, so all information must come through the Executive, allowing facts to be hidden or misconstrued. Without Executive cooperation, the council can be handicapped by the Executive when open communication is essential to making informed decisions. Executives may fire ANY county employee at will resulting in “yes men” fearful of losing their jobs instead of true advisors. No public meetings are required of the Executive, so transparency becomes a catch phrase and not a reality, opening multiple ways to benefit private concerns.

The Executive position has harmed, not improved, our way of life. Under this form of government, we’ve experienced deteriorating services, i.e. removal of recycling bins and roads, increased fees, increased employee turnover and more citizen complaints. This office continues to expand by adding multiple assistants, secretaries, lawyers, revolving office décor and high price vehicles. This year, costs skyrocketed when the Executive decided to sue the Council. All paid for by your taxpayer dollars.

The argument that we need the Executive for a “balance of power” is flawed. Our present system is not a “balance” but a dictatorship that ignores any checks and balances on abuse of power. Council members are from different areas of the county, with seven different life experiences, give a far better chance of a wiser decision-making process and are less like to be tainted by personal gain than with ONE person making decisions on their whims or on requests from campaign contributors.

The County Executives’ actions speak volumes on how little respect that is for taxpayers and our elected representatives. Therefore, I hope and pray citizens vote to delete the position of County Executive and return to the form of government that served Wicomico County well for over 100+ years.

Remove an unworkable layer of bureaucracy, vote “yes” for question A.

  4. I agree with the definition of a blogger vs. a legitimate news source. Following that definition, I can’t say that we have any real legitimate news sources on the shore, or in this country for that matter. A good blog, like yours gives your opinion and doesn’t try to tell everyone else how to think.
