Civil rights groups are calling for the collapsed Baltimore bridge to be renamed when it’s rebuilt, citing accusations of racism against national anthem author Francis Scott Key.
The Caucus of African American Leaders of Anne Arundel County in Maryland voted unanimously to call for the renaming and will lobby governor Wes Moore on the proposal, as reported by the Baltimore Banner.
The caucus includes civil rights groups such as the NAACP and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women.
Francis Scott Key wrote our national anthem while on the banks of the Patapsco river very near where the Francis Scott Key Bridge was built. His legacy must remain with that bridge.
We will name it the Trump MAGA Bridge in 2025 !!!!!!!!
Simple solution; back to separate but equal, with a twist.
Rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge using a design that’s up to date. To be a toll bridge used by whites and all others willing to pay the toll.
Build a parallel span using a design that’s up to date for non-white drivers that has no toll. It can be named for the author of the NFL’s preferred alternate anthem.
Everyone should be happy, plus there’ll be twice as much construction money gravy to spread around, and all the squeegee crew in town can now be construction workers at a Bidenomics wage level.
