A violent week in Baltimore surpasses last year’s numbers

From Monday morning until Friday, March 11th through the 15th, at least seven people were shot and killed, while at least eight were shot and injured.

The non-fatal shootings this year now surpass the number of non-fatal shootings last year.

Homicides are currently six less than last year.

Last month, Mayor Brandon Scott touted a success, which had not been seen in almost a decade.

“We are down 17 percent in homicides, and 8.7, almost 9 percent in non-fatal shootings,” said Mayor Scott.

Now, the city is no longer 8.7% down on non-fatal shootings, but rather 3.4% higher than this time last year.

Meanwhile, homicides are now down just 12% from this time last year.
