Former Secretary of State Pompeo would consider joining a second Trump administration

Pompeo joked that he apparently “didn’t blow it” during Trump’s first administration and that it was “flattering” to hear that his name was being discussed.

Former CIA Director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo did not rule out the possibility of accepting a position in a second Trump administration, should he be reelected in November.

When asked by Fox News’ Neil Cavuto on Friday if he would consider working under Donald Trump again, Pompeo joked that he apparently “didn’t blow it” during Trump’s first administration and that it was “flattering” to hear that his name had come up in that context, according to The Hill.

“I don’t often comment on jobs I’ve not been offered,” he told Cavuto, adding “But if I get a chance to serve and think that I can make a difference … I’m almost certainly going to say yes to that opportunity to try and deliver on behalf of the American people.”

Cavuto said that Trump would expect loyalty, to which Pompeo replied, “I’m confident President Trump will be looking for people who will faithfully execute what it is he asked them to do,” and that “I think as a president, you should always want that from everyone.”
