Council members finalize list for county funds
The dualization of Route 90, replacement of the Route 50 drawbridge and evaluation of an intersection near the White Marlin Mall top a list of transportation priorities Ocean City officials will send to Worcester County.
At the end of a council meeting Feb. 5, City Manager Terry McGean provided officials with a draft letter detailing Ocean City’s transportation requests for this year. He said the priorities, which include the dualization of Route 90 and the replacement of the Route 50 drawbridge, will be added to Worcester County’s Consolidated Transportation Program priority letter.
“Each year the county sends a request for what’s known as the State Consolidated Transportation Plan, which is the state’s planning document for State Highway …,” he explained. “I have a draft letter that I’ve put together, which pretty much mirrors what we have requested in the past, which is our top priority, the dualization of Route 90. Our next priority is the Route 50 drawbridge.”
This needs to be done along with provisioning the ability to fish from it. That’s one way to help recoup the cost by charging a $1 fee to fish from it. I love fishing from bridges and think this would be great!
County funds to help OC get the tourist. Anything for Bunting, and Metricics, North End. I say you get that new governor involved, and mandate OC to recycle instead of paying to have it taken to PA for incineration. And the way the county offsets the lost revenue from OC is put your dump permits up to $100. While Wicomico stays at $60 for years. You all better keep your eye on these crooks. Your best interest is not important. But their revenue is.
Bwahahahhahahaah. Still trying to make this happen. There is no money folks…and there are more important projects needing money in MD than OC. Until there is a Governor in office who backs OC being the ONLY MD non government beach, it will not happen. Fix the jalopy called the route 50 bridge. You MAIN transportation source. Stop with the duct tape repairs that have been going on since the 80s……over 40 yrs.
But keep building more and more on the island……..yet u able to solve mid week vacancies, lack of help, minimum wage hike and now the potential tip law.
Yeah, route 90 bridge way more important than bringing folks in.
Last thing…..Day trippers on Sat and sunday who hang their hammocks under the pier DONT SPEND MONEY.
