Former Baltimore prosecutor Marilyn Mosby found guilty of 1 count of mortgage fraud

A federal jury reached a split verdict Tuesday

Former Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has been convicted of one count of mortgage fraud, after testifying that she unintentionally made false statements on loan applications to buy two Florida vacation homes.

The Associated Press reported that the split verdict was announced Tuesday evening after jury members deliberated for most of the day, finding Mosby not guilty on a second mortgage fraud charge.

In November, Mosby was convicted of two counts of perjury by a federal jury after she falsely claimed financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic in order to withdraw money from the city’s retirement fund. She has not been sentenced in either case and faces up to five years for each count.

  1. Who actually thinks she’ll do jail time? or have any punishment. She gets to keep the money and her illegally gained houses. no reason not to keep being a criminal.

    1. I do think she will get time, but it will be in one of those ‘country club’ ones saved for the elites. I’d guess she’ll get between 12-18 months, but no more than that. If I did what she did, I’d likely get the full term and die in jail. ….’Merica

      1. You could be correct, but both of her trials and convictions are Federal. For an elected, black, female in dark blue state the question is why was she pursued? Suggests they’ll ask for real time. She’s a lawyer convicted of perjury. Grounds for leniency? Skimpy.
