A new year means better income for some thanks to laws taking effect on January 1.
New minimum wage laws begin in the new year and will give higher pay to workers in 22 states. About 9.9 million workers will get the wage hikes, according to the Economic Policy Institute.
The new minimum wages taking effect next year range from Alaska’s $11.73 per hour to Washington’s $16.28 per hour.
Twelve of those states have adjusted their minimum wage rates to account for inflation. Three states – Florida, Nevada, and Oregon – will raise their minimum wages later in the year.
I wonder how many workers will get pink slips instead of wage hikes.
Local businesses can’t support forced wage rates – just look at what the unions are doing to the car companies!
9:11, Just look at what the auto executives are do to you !!!!
NOT ENOUGH !!!! Min Wage All 50 states now should be $25.00 Hr !!!! PERIOD Long Overdue !!!!!
Why stop at $25/hr? Why not make it $100? Better yet, make the minimum wage $10,000 per hour, then everybody will be rich and won’t have to work more than one week per year.
Ban TAXES !!!! BAN the IRS !!!!! That would be a Real Raise !!!!
yep and all business will have to raise their prices to keep up how does that work for you
Check with obiden
Business crys all the time !!! Workers have it Harder than them & they Don’t Care !!!!!
Govt needs to Roll-Back ALL prices !!!! All countrys too !!!! Prices are 10 times what they should be today !!!
Roll back to the 40’s !!! SOLVED
In this great country one should be able to survive on a 40 hour a week job. Fifteen dollars and hour equals $600 a week before taxes ect. They may get $350 take home pay for bills. Four weeks of $350 adds up to $1400 per month. Now how much does rent or a mortgage cost per month, then add the cost of food per month, car payment or not, fuel is still needed, home, health, and car insurance, electricity or gas for home heating, maybe school supplies, clothes wear our too and things break that either need repairing or replacing. Now if one of you geniuses out have some kind of new math that can balance this out, please tell how. This is a perfect example why people join Unions. The goal of collective bargaining by Unions is to provide a living wage and benefits for those willing to work for it.
Right on 4:55 makes sense to me. I need to know about that new math people are using too
Don’t move to DelMarVa !!! PAY here is TERRIBLE my whole lifetime here !!!! Poor area / Poverty !!!!
