According to a report published by Newsweek on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, a former U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) officer has thrown a new theory into the mix concerning the events of January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol.

Tarik Johnson, an ex-Capitol Police lieutenant who was on duty during the infamous riot, has recently come forward with allegations that implicate the department’s former assistant chief in what he describes as a carefully orchestrated “set-up.”

As the legal aftermath of the Capitol riots continues, with 1,201 people from all 50 states charged and 719 having pleaded guilty, Johnson’s claims add a new layer of complexity to the narrative surrounding the events of that fateful day.

Of the charged individuals, 119 have been convicted, three acquitted, and 64 have faced varying degrees of prison time.

Also, eight cases have been dismissed.

Johnson’s assertions surfaced on Monday, asserting that the chaos on January 6 was not a spontaneous event but rather part of a larger plan concealed by the sheer size of the crowd and obscured facts.
