The backlash against self-checkout is growing, and stores are starting to dial back on the technology after it exploded over the past few years.
Booths, a British supermarket chain, said it’s removing self-checkout stations in all but two of its 28 stores. In the United States, Walmart, Costco, Wegmans and other chains have also revised their self-checkout strategies.
“Our customers have told us this over time — that the self-scan machines that we’ve got in our stores … can be slow, they can be unreliable (and) they’re obviously impersonal,” Booths managing director Nigel Murray told the BBC.
I have mixed feelings about this. I didn’t like self checkout when it was first implemented to the Salisbury area, but now reading some stores might go back to human cashiers, that move like sloths, I’m having a change in attitude about self checkout.
I refuse to use self checkout. The cashiers are getting paid to ring up my order and bag it, unless you get one ignorant , arrogant cashier at the north Walmart who tells you that you have to bad your own, of course that only applies to certain people.
Should be LAW in ALL states > When they make you use Self Check Out you get 20% OFF your Bill !!! SOLVED !!!!!! You are doing THEIR JOB !!!! So get PAID !!!!
Then > they would REMOVE all the Self-ck outs very soon !!! SOLVED
Re-THINK stopping Innocent Shoppers at the exit door after they PAID for their goods at the Register ( Wal Mart

They treat you like you are in their Prison > Re-scanning tooo many of your items at the Exit door after you just
already PAID for them at a Nearby Register !!!!
Hell there are Plenty of CAMERAS to watch you today , so NO NEED to stop you at the exit Door !!!!
