Maryland Fishing Report

In Maryland’s freshwater areas, the shallow grass beds are in their seasonal retreat, and baitfish and crayfish are moving to deeper waters to find cover for the winter months. Bass are waiting to intercept them when and where they can.

In the lower Susquehanna River and surrounding waters, blue catfish are king this week. Although they are an unwelcome intruder and predator of resident fish species, they are providing a lot of fishing action and picking up the slack for striped bass anglers.

At the Ocean City Inlet this week, sheepshead and tautog are being caught near the jetty rocks and bridge piers on sand fleas and pieces of crab.

  1. what explanation needed? the fact they ride around all day in very expensive equipment, do nothing but harass the common man and their families. meanwhile the western shore cities and corporations are raping the bay but because they are politically connected they get a pass!
