We arrived on Assateague Island around 8 am where we drove straight through, parked and went to the beach. As we were leaving at noon the traffic was the worst I’ve ever seen. The line to get in was over the bridge before the entrance. So if you are thinking of heading that way, DON’T! It will be hours before you get to the beach. Just a heads up.
between all the tourons from DC PA NJ NY they have inundated assateague to the point it’s not even worth going there an more! what a shame! they should raise the price and move the toll gate to this side of the bridge!
It’s been a couple years since I’ve been down..have they added any signs as you come into the park for how long the ORV zone wait is? I remember a couple years ago, we had already been in line a couple hours, only to get to the 1st sign and it said it was another 4hrs from there.
Very unpredictable 7:38, no body knows when or how many vehicles will be coming off the beach.
