Man attacks, robs elderly man walking to pay his rent, agents say | Maryland’s Most Wanted

Federal agents have joined the search for the suspect who they say attacked and robbed an elderly man as he was simply walking to pay a bill.

Jonathan Johnson, 37, is wanted for assault, unarmed robbery.

On June 2, 2023 investigators say an elderly man stopped into a local grocery store in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon community.

The victim’s rent was due, and he needed a money order to pay it.

“He put the money order in his back pocket and started to walk back home,” said Mat Silverman, Deputy Chief with the U.S. Marshals Service.

Investigators say as the man reached the 600 block of Washington Place he was attacked from behind.

“The suspect grabbed the victim by the neck, slammed him to the ground and stole his money order and wallet,” said Silverman.
